Urban sustainable mobility plan
The City Council starts a sustainable mobility plan based on the efficency, enviromental respect, accessibility and the citizen´s quality of life. In September 2012 the previous diagnosys will come to and end, and first measures will start.
Presentation
What is the PMUS?
A proposal that, starting from the universal accessibility principles, the citizens involvement, and the current sustainable economy law, among other variables, can stablish a new kind of relations between pedestrians, cycles, vehicles and public transport.
It is an ambitious plan, a model of mobility based on the classification of the road space, the interconection between districts and between them and the urban center; as well as in the intermodality guidelines, and a conception of the dayly displacements on different ways of transport.
Targets
Achieve a kind of city that could conceal the needs of transport and mobility, with the quality of life, respect to the enviroment, urban development, or the leisure necessity, work or accessibility to neighbours and visitors.
This proposal starts from a previous diagnosys both urban characterization and mobility demands, the parking structures and the classification and situation of traffic and the city circulation.
It will have special interest on this diagnosys the travellers public transports and the goods transportation, pedestrian and cycles routes, enviromental quality, road safety, connections with the metropolitan area or the removal of architectonical barriers, among other things.
After the diagnosys, that should have both technical opinion and the citizen´s participation, and coordination with other administrations, Mobility will make a plan with specific measures to implement, a detailed proposal that includes schedules and investments for its execution.
To improve mobility and achieve a more sustainable city, the City Council starts this Thursday 6 of September 2011 the diagnosys works and preparation of the Sustainable Mobility Plan in the city of Granada.
Need
This Mobility Plan is necessary because the Sustainable Economy Law that make conditional the public transport subsidies from 2012 for the towns above 50.000 habitants to have a Sustainable Mobility Plan.
