The City Council of Granada takes a step forward in the renovation of bus fleet of urban transport with the incorporation of siw brand new hybrid low emmissions vehicles.

Urban bus fleet in Granada addes six brand new hybrid low emmissions diesel vehicles model Mercedes-Benz Citaro Hybrid low - floor 12 meters long reaching to 49, three of them electrical, to the number of buses that reduce emmisions of carbon dioxide up to 99 per cent compared to normative Euro 4.
Presentation has been held this morning within the activities organised by the City Council of Granada due to the celebration of the European Mobility Week with the Mayoress of Granada, Marifrán Carazo; the councellor of Mobility and Citizen´s Protection, Ana Agudo, and the director of Alsa in the Mediterranean area, Valeriano Díaz Revilla.
The Mayoress, remarked that the raise of ecological buses in the fleet proves the commitment of this goverment team to achieve a more sutainable, green and peaceful Granada with the citizen, and also has advanced the start of operation of six new ecological buese before the end of the year.
So, the Mayoress has committed to renovate gradually the bus fleet of the city, of 196 vehicles, that almost 30% will have more efficient and respectful technology with environment before 2025, has said.
This new vehicles, twelve meters long and hybrid diesel technology low emmission and a compact electric propulsion system, that guarantee the same number of seats because it has the same passenger compartment. The incorporation means an investment of 1.769.424,66 euros.
Equiped with a system that allows vehicle to recharge itself with kinetic energy naturally created in inertial phases of the itinerary (deceleration and braking), have a bigger saving in fuel and consequentially, saving in pollution to environment.
Also, lacking of batteries, these regenerative modules without maintenance extends life of vehicles, and because it is a non pluggable system with voltage of not more than 48V, it is not necessary to adapt both personal nor facilities to high tension certification.
Concerning to structure, it has three electric double doors with sensibilization, anti-entrampment protection when opening and closing doors and blocking of vehicle with open doors. Side windows have tinted glass, and heated exterior rear-view mirror electrically regulated and anti vandalism driver´s door.
Buses have an electrical ramp with led and on the platform in front of main door there are located two places for wheelchair with Safebus pavement painted in blue and wheelchair signs + shopping trolley, painted in white, and also 4 seats reserved for disabled people (RMP) with differentiated tapestry.
Valeriano Díaz Revilla, director of Mediterranean Area of Alsa, has assured that we work dayly to offer a safe and sustainable service of transport, cooperating with City Council to renovate urban bus fleet and give Granada the newest technology in environmental efficiency, security and comfort for passengers, helping to improve quality of air in the city.
