Award Spanish Week of Substainable Mobility 2018
Granada wins the award of the Spanish Week of Substainable Mobility 2018. The council of Mobility, Raquel Ruz, has highlighted the bet of the City Council to make Granada a more friendly and better quality of life city.
The City Council of Granada is the winner of the VIII edition of the Spanish Week of Substainable Mobility 2018 (SEMS-208) with which the Ministry of Ecology award permanent measures launched in the municipalities to improve displacements in the city. The council of Mobility, Raquel Ruz, that has collected the golden award the morning of 3 December in Madrid, has insisted on the bet of the City Council to make Granada a more friendly and better quality of life city.
The City Council of Granada has joined in the more than 50.000 inhabitants category, has participated with three permanent projects run last 2017: the implementation of measures for the pedestrian access in the historic center -in particular in the Realejo district- the transfer of eco-substainable vehicles in the vehicle fleet of urban collective transport in the city and the tax credit for those companies that boost Transport Plans for workers and the creation of quality label Responsible Mobility.
After thanking the jury for the Gold Prize to the city of Granada, Raquel Ruz has considered this award as a support to the measures that the current government team is taking to favour responsible mobility and promote a change in habits of displacement of the citizenship, boosting the use of collective public transport and displacements on foot, supporting and giving visibility to those companies committed with a clean mobility of their workers and, in the end, making streets and squares of the city an area for the use and enjoyment of the citizens.
In this sense, the council has mentioned the work strategy taken by the grenadine City Council to educate and raise awareness on people about the necessity of a substainable mobility. For example, she has referred to the planned activities due to the European Mobility Week, Sunday Free Car Days, participation of the city in european project STARS, -for schoolchilds to go to school on foot, bicycle or public transport- the implementationo of project Safe Way to School or numerous spread and encouragement campaigns aimed to pedestrians, cyclists and citizenship in general.
To all these activities there are other achievements boosted by the City council that Raquel Ruz has considered fundamental as the approval of Air Quality Plan in the municipality of Granada, the development of a inventory of emmisions of combustion plants, the update of noise map according to LORCA Plan of the reduction ofacustic pollution or the inclusion of environmental parameters in all procurement contracts of the City Council of Granada.
