Rearrangement of parking spaces in Virgen de la Consolación
On Wednesday 19 June at 22:00 hours starts the rearrangement of parking spaces to reverse parking only.
According to file 11.015 / 2023, answering a neighbour suggestion, requesting to mark and signal parking places in C/Virgen de la Consolación and adjacents to make best use of them, the City Council has decided to change these parking spaces to reverse parking only, due to:
After a thorough analysis of this model of parking (reverse parking) and its functioning, its implementation is possible due to some possitive reasons:
- improvement of safety reducing dead angles and start in direction of travel.
- a saving of 10% area per space. (To explain this area saving, we assume that previosly the parking is done in one maniouvre, so te vehicle needs less space because is reverse parking, because it has a larger turning radius and range of motion. Saving is made in the width of the parking space, because length is continous -designed after the length of a regular vehicle-.
-this type of parking reverse parking also ease loading and unloading works, because the back of the car (trunk) is close to the pavement.
-it is also a measure to soothe traffic, reducing speed of vehicles.
-Another benefits to consider is that in most of vehicles, distance between rear axle and back part of the car is lower than distance between front axle and front part, so pavement is less occupied.
